How it gets described on the phone

The panel is not evidence. A probe goes on a shelf in each compartment and stays there while the rest of the diagnosis happens, because a control that reports a zone it can no longer read will keep displaying a perfectly plausible number. Damper, sensors and door heater are all tested against those readings rather than against the display.

Where a job lands inside its band is decided by the part your serial takes and how far the cabinet has to come apart — and the $89 you paid for the visit comes off that figure the moment you approve it. Nothing is replaced on suspicion.

Lower zone crept several degrees above setpoint, but only in the afternoon. He worked out that the condenser fan was cutting out once things got hot. The part took a week, then it was right.
